Dennis Stroughmatt has performed his unique French Creole music at The Smithsonian Folk Life Festival, The Kennedy Center, and The Library of Congress as well as all over the country. He will share the vibrant music of the French Midwest Creoles, preserved by families in the Ozark foothills, and is a blend of Celtic, Canadian and Old Time sounds. It bridges the gap between contemporary Canadian and Louisiana Cajun styles.
Dennis Stroughmatt et L’Esprit Creole will bring this vibrant musical culture to North-Central Montana on November 3, 2019 with a concert at The Orpheum Theatre. They will share the stories and songs of over 300 years of musical tradition with us.
This event, sponsored by the Pondera Arts Council, received funding from WESTAF, the Western States Arts Federation, the Montana Arts Council, an agency of the state government, and the National Endowment for the Arts. State funding comes in part through coal severance taxes paid based upon coal mined in Montana and deposited in Montana’s cultural and aesthetic projects trust fund.
